These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of splash101.com (the “Site”), operated by Splash101. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. The Site
Splash101 provides general educational articles, checklists, and calculators about DIY residential pool and spa water care. We are not a licensed pool contractor, chemical manufacturer, or medical provider. Content is for informational purposes for homeowners and hobbyists.
2. No professional advice
- Not pool-service advice for hire. Guides do not create a client relationship. Site conditions, equipment, local codes, and product formulas vary.
- Not medical advice. Eye/skin irritation notes are general education, not diagnosis or treatment.
- Not a substitute for labels. Always follow the product label, SDS, and manufacturer instructions. Labels and retests win over any estimate on this Site.
- Tools are estimates. Dose calculators and checklists are approximate helpers. Wrong volume, wrong product strength, or bad test readings can produce unsafe results. You remain responsible for every chemical you add.
When in doubt—especially for structural issues, electrical equipment, persistent black algae, or chemicals you are not comfortable handling—hire a qualified professional.
3. Chemical and safety responsibility
You agree that you alone are responsible for safe handling of pool and spa chemicals, including:
- Never mixing incompatible products (including different chlorine types dry or in a bucket)
- Never pouring shock through a skimmer that feeds an automatic chlorinator when that is unsafe
- Using PPE (gloves, eye protection), proper storage, and child/pet-safe practices
- Complying with local laws and disposal rules
Misuse can cause injury, death, property damage, or environmental harm. Splash101 is not liable for your chemical use decisions.
4. Affiliate links and products
Some pages include links to Amazon and other retailers. If you buy through those links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Product names, prices, availability, and shipping are controlled by the retailer. See our Affiliate Disclosure. We do not guarantee that any product is right for your pool.
5. Intellectual property
Text, graphics, logos, layout, and original materials on the Site are owned by Splash101 or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. You may not copy, scrape for commercial reuse, republish wholesale, or train competing commercial products on our content without prior written permission, except for ordinary personal use, brief quotation with credit, or rights allowed by law (including fair use).
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Site in any unlawful way or to harm others
- Attempt to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the Site or tools
- Scrape the Site at a scale that impairs service without permission
- Misrepresent affiliation with Splash101
- Submit malware, spam, or abusive content via email or any form we may add later
7. Email and submissions
If you send us feedback, tips, or corrections, you grant Splash101 a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that material to improve the Site (without publishing your email publicly unless you agree). Do not send confidential or proprietary information you are not willing to share.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT, TOOLS, AND LINKS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that content is complete, accurate, current, or error-free, or that the Site will be uninterrupted or secure.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SPLASH101 AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE, RELIANCE ON CONTENT, USE OF TOOLS, OR PURCHASES VIA AFFILIATE LINKS—EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SITE SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (IF ANY), WHICHEVER IS GREATER. 12. Changes
We may modify these Terms by posting an updated version with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using the Site.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which the Site operator principally resides, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country apply. Courts in that state shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to applicable law.
